Chaos/Cosmos/Creation is a focused discussion group facilitated by Dr Martyn Hudson through the summer of 2023 held in Research Commons, Northumbria University for MA and PHD students and academic staff.

Spaces are limited in the room to 14 people but access will also be online. If you want to join what will be a friendly and experimental space, please email Martyn with your interest: martyn.hudson@northumbria.ac.uk. Martyn will also provide you with an online link.

The discussion group is focused on the philosophy and phenomenology of creation, and each session will be framed around a paragraph of text sent out a few days in advance. Thinkers and creators covered will include Hannah Arendt, Luciano Berio, Heinrich Blucher, Albert Camus, Cornelius Castoriadis, Helene Cixous, Delia Derbyshire, Jacques Derrida, Raya Dunayevskaya, Shusaku Endo, Silvia Federici, Martin Heidegger, CLR James, Fela Kuti, Sun Ra, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Michel Serres, Isabelle Stengers, Bernard Stiegler and Simone Weil. The first session will explore chaos and cosmos in existential philosophy and deconstruction in the context of Greek antiquity and the concept of chaoskampf.
